Crichton Earns Sixth Postseason Recognition

Senior men's golfer Scott Crichton (Dalgety Bay, Scotland, Inverkeithing High School) notched his sixth postseason honor of the season Wednesday. Crichton is WNMU's newest ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American. He was listed as a third team member of the Men's At-Large program. The Men's At-Large program for the Academic All-America® includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, and water polo. 

Crichton wrapped up a stellar career for WNMU with a career 74.0 scoring average in 123 tournament rounds. He leads in virtually every scoring category while maintaining a 3.95 GPA in cell and molecular biology.

Crichton was recently honored with the NCAA Degree Completion Award, which takes into account athletic and academic accomplishments. He is the first Mustang to receive this award. Crichton also the RMAC Degree Completion Award.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
