Western New Mexico University recorded a 5-1 victory over St. Cloud State University in second-round action of the 2009 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Central Regional match. The win sends the Mustangs into the 2009 NCAA Division II Men's Championship finals May 13-16 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. 

The Mustangs got off to a slower start and gave up one point in the first doubles match. Mike Master and Wojciech Batorski defeated WNMU's Kyle Lynch (Albuquerque, NM/New Mexico Military Institute High School) and Emmanuel Hecher (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Pitagoras), 9-7. WNMU then won their remaining two matches in doubles play and also gained wins at the No. 2, 4, and 6 singles spots. Play was halted with the Mustangs leading 5-1. 

The Mustangs have won 11 of their last 14 matches.
