Scott Crichton (Dalgety Bay, Scotland, Inverkeithing High School) can put another award tally mark on his wall. On Thursday, Crichton was placed on the
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Six College Division Men's At-Large First Team. The men's at-large teams include student-athletes participating in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, men's volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. Because he landed on the First Team, Crichton will automatically advance to the Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in June.
Crichton was recently a unanimous First Team selection for the RMAC All-Academic Team. Consequently, he was also named this year's RMAC Men's Golf All-Academic Player of the Year. He was also named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team and the All-RMAC First Team.
Crichton, a cell and molecular biology major, has a 3.93 grade point average after five semesters of coursework. Not only has Crichton excelled in the classroom, this year he posted eight separate tournament scores of +5 or better. His best tournament came at the beginning of the season at the first RMAC event. He finished -4 and placed second. He also recorded a season high 13 birdies.
Overall, Crichton averaged 73.94 strokes this season along with a total of 83 birdies and six eagles.
Student-athletes with at least sophomore standing and a 3.30 GPA are eligible for consideration for the CoSIDA/
ESPN The Magazine academic honors. Awards are nominated and voted on by collegiate sports information directors.
