Litchfield Park, AZ. — The Western New Mexico Women's Golf team finished up the final round of the SMSU Spring Invite, March 10th and were victorious at the Wigwam Resort in the 13 team field! They finished the day with a team score of +21 for a two round total of 304-309 for a (+37) total to win by a total of 3 shots.
Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) led the way for the Mustangs, winning the individual tournament in a scorecard playoff! Lackey finished strong with 2 birdies in the final four holes to end with a round of 75 (+3) for a +4 total and her first collegiate victory.
Corynn Speer (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo, HS) followed closely behind with a final round score of 78 (+6), for a two round total of 74-78 (+8), to finish up the event in a tie for 6th place.
Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) was next for the Mustangs with a final round score of 77 (+5), for a three round total of 80-77 (+13) and a T18 finish individually.
Nicole Jasso (Deming, NM/Deming HS) ended the final day with a round of 80 (+8) to go along with her first round of 77 for a +13 total and finished in T18th. Rounding out the lineup for the Mustangs,
Erin Turner (Deming, NM/Deming HS) finished the final day with a score of 79 (+7), placing her in tied 27th with a +17 total. As an individual,
Kelly Peden (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) finished with a final round of 82 (+10) to finish the event with a +22 total and in tied 39th.
With her victory,
Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) joins an elite group of Mustangs who have captured the individual title at the SMSU Spring Invite. Lackey now stands alongside teammate Lexie Klemke and former Mustang standouts Brenda Dominguez and Shelby Turner, all of whom have previously claimed the tournament's individual championship.

Seeing Falyn earn her first collegiate individual victory while helping us secure the team title makes it even more special."
