Every great leader has a starting point
For Marques Reischl, the journey began in Tombstone, Arizona, where he developed not just as an athlete, but as a competitor and team leader. Reischl went to Tombstone High School, where he was multi-sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, and tennis. This set the foundation for discipline, teamwork, and leadership that would later define his career.
After Tombstone High School, Reischl went to Western New Mexico from the years 2001-2004, where he played as the Mustangs quarterback. Over four seasons, Reischel appeared in 29 games, combining 2573 passing yards, and 20 total touchdowns. His college athletic career also expanded into basketball and tennis. In 2005, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Science Education.
After graduation, Reischl chased the professional dream where he played for the San Angelo Stampede and later joined the Johnstown Riverhawks of the American Indoor Football League. Though his career was cut short due to injury, it was a testament to his perseverance and determination.
Reischl continued his stay at Western, but this time on the sidelines. From 2005 – 2006, he was the quarterbacks coach, and in 2007 was the wide receiver's coach. His coaching led the receivers to rank second in the RMAC with 2,440 receiving yards. One of his players, Rod Winsdor, also earned First All-RMAC honors and went on to play in the Cactus Bowl. By 2008, Reischl had expanded his roles even further, wearing the hats for passing game coordinator, academic supervisor, recruitment coordinator, and in game management. During this time Reischl also pursued his Master's in Educational Leadership.
After leaving the Mustangs, Reischl went back to his home state of Arizona, where he was appointed as the Principal of Basha High School in Chandler, AZ. His role as principal has earned him the CUSD School Administrator of the Year and was recognized by the Chandler Chamber of Commerce at the 37
th Annual Chandler Chamber Community Awards in 2024 – honored alongside educators, business leader, and community change makers.
Reischl continues his role as Educator, as the Principal of Basha High School, where he can frequently be seen at the gates in the morning greeting the students as they come for school, and attending all of Basha's sporting events.
