Amarillo, TX. — The Western New Mexico Women's Golf team began the WT Women's Invitational September 29 in Amarillo, TX with 36 holes at Tascosa Country Club (La Paloma). They finished the first day in eleventh out of fifteen teams with scores of 309-302 for a (+43) total.

Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) led the way for the Mustangs, with two solid scores of 76-71 (+5)  to finish the day in a tie for 22nd out of 82. Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) followed close behind with steady scores of 73 and 76 to finish the day in T30. Nicole Jasso (Deming, NM/Deming HS) was next for the Lady Mustangs with scores of 80 and 76 (+14), which currently has her in a tie for 56th.

Two Mustangs, Corynn Speer (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo, HS) and Erin Turner (Deming, NM/Deming HS) both finished on the same total at +18 for the day, placing them in T65. Speer posted rounds of 81 and 79, while Turner posted back to back rounds of 80 during the first day. Rounding out the lineup as an individual was Kelly Peden (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS), who also finished the day at a total of +18 with two rounds of 80.

The Lady Mustangs will look to move up the leaderboard tomorrow, September 30th, as they begin play in Amarillo at 07:00AM MT.
