GOODYEAR, AZ. — The Western New Mexico Women's Golf team concluded the first day of the RJGA shootout at the Golf Club of Estrella in 11th place, highlighted by Falyn Lackey's (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) even-par 72 which puts her in T5. The team is currently placed 11th out of 14 teams with a team score of 314 (+26) in the opening round.
Lackey led the charge with an impressive opening round of 72, highlighted by 2 birdies. Corynn Speer (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo, HS) also had a notable round with a score of 77 which has her currently in a tie for 36th. Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) followed with a round of 80, placing her in a tie for 47th.
Rounding out the lineup was Nicole Jasso (Deming, NM/Deming HS) and Erin Turner (Deming, NM/Deming HS), who shot rounds of 85 and 90, placing them 66th and 69th, respectively. As an individual, Kelly Peden (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) shot a score of 89 and is in sole 68th place.
The Mustangs continue play tomorrow at 7:30am MST, with hopes to move up the leaderboard in the final round at the Golf Club of Estrella.
