RICHARDSON, TEXAS — Western New Mexico University is proud to recognize Madeline Bleak (Mesa, AZ/Mountain View High School) (Softball) and Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keynes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS) (Men's Golf) as its Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Award recipients for the graduating Class of 2025.

The Scholar-Athlete Award is presented annually by the LSC and its member institutions to one male and one female student-athlete from each school who exemplify the highest standards in academic achievement, athletic performance, and leadership. Recipients must be graduating seniors who have competed in their sport for at least two seasons.

Bleak, a History and Political Science major, and Arkanath, a Business Management major, both earned perfect 4.0 cumulative GPAs during their academic careers at WNMU. The two have been named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the WNMU President's List multiple times, highlighting their sustained academic excellence.

Arkanath was also honored as a 2024 NCAA Elite 90 Award recipient, a prestigious recognition given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA among competitors at each NCAA championship site.

WNMU congratulates Madeline and Arnav on this outstanding achievement and thanks them for representing Mustang Athletics with integrity, dedication, and distinction.

This year's class of 33 LSC Scholar-Athletes represents 17 institutions and 15 of the conference's 19 championship sports. The honorees include national academic award winners, All-Academic selections, and team leaders who have helped guide their programs to postseason success.
