Mustangs Play Last Home Game of the Season

Silver City N.M. – The Mustangs continue their 2025 season at home today, going toe-to-toe with the Angelo State Rambelles! In Game One, the Mustangs struggled to put points on the board, leading to an 11-3 loss. Game 2 saw a more aggressive Mustang offense, with WNMU landing 14 hits by games end. It would not be enough though, with the Mustangs falling 18-6 to the Rambelles.

Game One: Western New Mexico v.s. Angelo State University 3-11
Starting on the mound for the Western, Labraida Tenorio threw 59 pitches, faced 13 batters, and pitched one strikeout. Alixe De Anda (Queen Creek, AZ/Red Mountain High School) would relieve her, throwing 90 pitches and facing 23 batters, finishing with three strikeouts. Sophia Solano (Tucson, AZ/Sahuaro High School) would close out the game with 10 pitches thrown and 2 batters faced.
Offensively, WNMU had a total of 27 at-bats. The Mustangs finished with 8 hits, including one homerun and two doubles!

Game Two: Western New Mexico v.s. Angelo State University 6-18
Starting on the mound for the Mustangs in game two, Haiven Schoolcraft (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad High School) threw 51 pitches and faced 12 batters. Kiya Hamar (Forest Ranch, CA/Pleasant Valley High School) would relieve her in the second inning, throwing 58 pitches, facing 16 batters, and leaving the field with one strikeout. Lastly, Guilianna Wilson (Peoria, AZ/Mountain Ridge High School) took over in the 5th inning, throwing 53 pitches, facing 10 batters and finishing with one strikeout as well.
Offensively, WNMU had a total of 29 at-bats. The Mustangs battled at the plate, smashing game one's hit count with 14 by the end of the fifth inning. Unfortunately, after a great outing offensively, the Mustangs could not overcome ASU's lead, falling 18-6.

The Mustangs will be hitting the road, to take on the Sul Ross State Lobos on April 25th, 2025. The first pitches are scheduled for 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM MT.
