LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ - The WNMU women's golf team closed out the SMSU Spring Invitational at Wigwam Resort & Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona, securing a third-place finish with a final team score of +30 (606). The Mustangs recorded a +20 in the final round after a +10 start, maintaining their position throughout the tournament for their best finish of the year.

Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) led WNMU, finishing in fourth place with a total score of +2 (146). She shot an even-par 72 in the first round, followed by a 74 (+2) in the final round. Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) placed 16th overall, finishing at +7 (151) after a solid +1 (73) in the first round and a +6 (78) in the second.

Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) and Corynn Speer (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo, HS) both tied for 24th place, each posting a total score of +11 (155). Lackey shot +1 (73)in the opening round but followed it with a +10 (82) in the final. Speer carded a +9 (81) in round one and improved with a +2 (74) in round two.

Kelly Peden (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) and Erin Turner (Deming, NM/Deming HS), competing as an individual, tied for 40th place, both finishing with a total score of +19 (163). Peden shot +8 (80) in round one and +11 (83) in round two, while Turner mirrored those scores with an 80 (+8) in the first round and an 83 (+11) in the second.

With a strong showing at the SMSU Spring Invitational, the Mustangs now shift their focus to their next competition at the Southern Colorado Open, hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo. The tournament will take place on March 23-24 at Walkingstick Golf Course in Pueblo, Colorado.
