PUEBLO, CO. — The Western New Mexico Men's Cross Country Team placed 19th at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship on Saturday, led by a 68th-place finish from their top runner,
Samuel Ketcham (Goodyear, AZ/Canyon View High School), in the men's 10K. Men's Cross Country competed at the Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, CO, placing 19th out of 24 teams with a team score of 504 points.
The top performer for the team was
Samuel Ketcham (Goodyear, AZ/Canyon View High School) who finished in 68th place with a time of 32:30.3, contributing significantly to the team's efforts. Another notable performance came from
Michael Castorena (El Paso, TX/Parkland High School) who secured 72nd position with a time of 32:40.9, showcasing competitive times among the participants.
Cameron Shorty (Albuqurque, NM/Atrisco Heritage Academy High School) followed for the Mustangs in 101st place with a time of 33:31.9.
Rounding out the lineup for the Mustangs was
Morgan Haan (Albuquerque, NM/Edorado HS) in 121st place with a time of 34:23.5 and
Jonah Cortez (Rio Rancho, NM/Cleveland Sue HS) in 142nd place with a time of 35:30.1. Also competing were
Ameen Ibrahim (El Paso, TX/Pebble Hills HS) in 152nd place with a time of 36:18.2 and
Dax Rios (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial High School) in 157th place with a time of 38:32.9.
This ends the Cross Country season for the Mustangs as they will look to prepare for the Track & Field season coming up in the spring.
