Fort Worth, TX. — The Western New Mexico Men's Cross Country Team placed 11th at the Lone Star Conference Championships on Saturday, led by a 17th-place finish from their top runner,
Samuel Ketcham (Goodyear, AZ/Canyon View High School), in the men's 8K. Men's Cross Country competed at the AP Ranch in Fort Worth, placing 11th out of 13 teams with a team score of 237 points.
The top performer for the team was
Samuel Ketcham (Goodyear, AZ/Canyon View High School) who finished in 17th place with a time of 25:34.81, contributing significantly to the team's efforts. Another notable performance came from
Michael Castorena (El Paso, TX/Parkland High School) who secured 28th position with a time of 26:00.03, showcasing competitive times among the participants.
Cameron Shorty (Albuqurque, NM/Atrisco Heritage Academy High School) followed for the Mustangs in 57th place with a time of 27:07.83. The team faced stiff competition from other universities, with W. Texas A&M taking the championship title with 20 points.
Rounding out the lineup for the Mustangs was
Ameen Ibrahim (El Paso, TX/Pebble Hills HS) in 77th place with a time of 27:52.24 and
Morgan Haan (Albuquerque, NM/Edorado HS) in 84th place with a time of 28:06.54. Also competing were
Jacob Corral (El Paso, TX/Americas HS) in 86th place with a time of 28:16.80 and
Dax Rios (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial High School) in 92nd place with a time of 28:44.35.
The Mustangs will look to continue to trend towards NCAA South Central Regionals in Pueblo, Colorado, November 8th.
