PONTE VERDA BEACH, Flor. - The Western New Mexico University Woman's Golf team took their talents to the PGA Works Collegiate Championships at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Verda Beach, Florida. After round one the Mustangs came out with an impressive (+15), 303 to give them first place in a field of division one and division two schools.
Leading the way for the Mustangs, T-4th is
Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) at (+2), 74. Medina has four birdies after round one. T-7th is
Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) at (+3), 75. Harper sunk two birdies.
Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) sit T-11th at (+4), 76. Klemke had one birdie.
Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) is the fourth Mustang in the top 15, T-14th at (+6), 78. Freshman
Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) rounds things out in 48th at (+18), 90. Lackey made one birdie.
Howard University trails the Mustangs at (+17) in second place. Third is Texas A&M Corpus Christi at (+20).
First place is a three way tie between Tori Mouton (NCA&T State), Trinity Ahing (NCCU) and Kendall Jackson (Howard) at E.
