EL PASO, Texas - The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team kicked off their season 2024 Spring with a victory at the RJGA Cactus Thaw! The Mustangs final round read (+28) 301-303-604.
Senior leader
Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) took first place at (+4), 75-73-148. Powell finished the tournament with seven birdies. In second place is
Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) at (+5), 71-78-149. Klemke had 11 birdies.
Brooklynn Maes (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial HS) finished T-3rd at (+6), 74-76-150. Maes recorded four birdies and an eagle. In 10th is
Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) at (+13) 81-76-157. Harper made four birdies.
Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) rounds out the lineup in 17th at (+6), 85-78-163. Lackey had three birdies.
The Mustangs won the tournament at (+28). New Mexico Junior College finished in second place at (+38). Rounding out the top three is Odessa at (+49).
Powell and Klemke finished one and two in the individual standings. Olivia Heard of NMJC ties Maes for third.
