PUEBLO, Colo.- The Western New Mexico Women's Golf team began play at Walking Stick Golf Course in Publo, Colorado for the El Cheapo Classic on Sunday morning. After round one the Mustangs sit alone in 5th place at (+18), 306.
Sophomore
Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) leads the way for the Mustangs, T-10th at (+3), with a score of 75. Harper would record two birdies on the round.
T-16th is
Mia Trousdale (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) and
Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS)Â at (+4), each shooting a 76. Trousdale would record par on nearly every whole. Klemke would finish with four birdies on the day.Â
Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) sits T-38th for the Mustangs at (+7), carding a 79. Medina would manage two birdies on the day.Â
Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) rounds out the lineup, T-47th at (+9), with a scorecard of 81. Powell would shoot two birdies on the day.
Colorado Christian currently sits in first place at (+11). In second place is Colorado Mesa at (+14). Rounding out the top three is Colorado State-Pueblo at (+15).
Lauren Garcia of Sonoma State currently leads the tournament at (-1). Madison O'Sullivan of Regis sit in second place at E. Kiersten Bryant and Mary Beth Doss of Colorado Christian and Kylie Severin of Colorado State-Pueblo are all T-3rd at (+1).
The Ladies will resume play tomorrow at 11:00 AM MT to finish the El Cheapo Classic.
