WICHITA FALLS, TX – The Western New Mexico University Men's tennis team played in ITA Regional at Midwestern State.
"It was definitely a disappointing weekend. We didn't get near as many wins as we were capable of, " said Head Coach Alex Hunt.
Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and Yu-Jhe Du both won their first round main draw matches in straight sets, advancing to the round of 32, before falling. After falling in his first match, Brendan Lock (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne South HS) advanced to the consolation quarterfinals before losing in a tight battle.
In doubles, both Romero and Du were the only WNMU doubles team to record a win on the weekend. They won their first round advancing to the round of 16 before falling.
The Mustangs net competition will be in January 2023, playing against New Mexico State.
