WOMEN'S RESULTS
Mesa, AZ- The Western New Mexico University Men's and Women's Track team competed at the Mesa Invitational in Mesa, Arizona hosted by Mesa Community College Friday, April 22nd. Two Mustangs lead in their competitive race as well as the entire team dominated at the competition.
For the women, Senior
Maggie Orr (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert HS) ran in the 1500 meter dash and took home first place. Orr had an overall time of 5:10.50 and was just 12 seconds shy off of the fastest time ever at this exact meet. Junior Sophia Rodriquez ran in the 800 meter dash and took second place with a time of 2:31.77.
As for the men, four Mustangs ran in the 5000 meter run and all of the men were in the top ten. Leading the pack was Sophomore
Cody Hepker (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia HS) who took a dominating first place with a final time of 15:35.63.
Joshua Lara (Albuquerque, NM/Atrisco Heritage Academy HS) finished the run in a close third place with a time of 15:48.38. In fifth place,
Dylan Walker (El Paso. TX/Burges High School) finished with an overall time of 15:54.36.
Ahren Thorson () ran for a time of 16:16.13 and placed in sixth place.
Aaron Perez (El Paso. TX/Eastwood High School) took second place in the 1500 meter run with a final time of 4:05.68.
The Mustang Track team will wrap up their Track and Field season in Irvine, California at the UCI Invitational.
