Pueblo, CO – The Western New Mexico University Men's Golf finished their competitive play in the Southern Colorado Masters at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, CO Tuesday afternoon. The Mustangs finished in fourth place, shot +33 to par and a final score of 897 (288-296-313).
Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) was the only Mustang to finish in the top-10 earning T-6th. Geary shot +3 to par with a final scorecard of 219 (70-72-77). Behind him, is Mustang Adam Samnegard (Norrkoping, SWE/Hagagymnasiet HS/Garden City CC) in T-12th, shot +6 to par and had a score of 222 (73-74-75).
Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary) finished in T-15th with a score of 223 (69-74-80) and shot +7 to par. Coming in T-21st as an individual is Yong To Kim (Seoul, So. Korea/Colegio Han Al Americano) scoring 226 (73-75-78) and shot +10 to par. Aaron Perales (Deming, NM/Deming HS) placed T-51st after shooting +20 to par and carded 236 (76-78-82).
Harry O'Callaghan (Leeds, ENG/Priesthorpe HS) placed T-58th, shot +22, and had a score of 238 (81-76-81). Mustang Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keyes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS) moved up three rankings on the day earning T-66th after shooting +28 to par and a final of 244 (82-82-80).
The Mustangs placed fifth in averaging 3.45 Par 3's, fifth in averaging 4.31 Par 4's, and earned a total of 46 birdies which was the second most in the tournament.
Taking first place on the leader board is Andrew Ni from Colorado State-Pueblo shooting -5 to par. Darren Edwards, from Fort Lewis College, placed second after shooting -1 to par. In third place was another Colorado State-Pueblo member, Sanjay Nithiyalingham shooting +1 to par.
The Southern Colorado Masters was won by Colorado State-Pueblo who shot even to par followed by Fort Lewis College in second place, shooting +19 to par. In third place, Colorado Mesa took the ranking after shooting +24 to par throughout both days.
The Men's Golf team will compete in the LSC Championship Golf Tournament April 18th-19th.
