Alameda, Calif.– The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team wrapped up their time in the bay area in California, playing in the 13 team field at Corica Park Golf Course. After both days, the Mustangs finished in 12th carding a team total of 645 (326-319).
Valerie Enriquez and Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) would both finish the tournament in T-44th place. Both girls carded 159; Enriquez carded 85 on round one and 74 today, while Powell shot 80 in round one and 79 in round two.
Mia Trousdale (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS), the Mustang individual, ranked T-49th carding 160 (78-82). Up next for the Mustangs was Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) and Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) who tied for 60th. Medina shot 165 (80-85) while Harper also carded 165 (81-84). Amanda Portillo (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) placed T-66th carding a total of 167 (85-82).
Sonoma State took the tournament in first place carding (589), followed by the host, Cal State East Bay (590) in second and Cal St. Moneterey Bay in (599) third.
First place in the shootout was by a Dominican (CA) player, Claire Shubin totaling 141, followed by Drishti Karumbaya from Cal State East Bay carding 142. Two more players woudl tie for third carding 143.
