San Angelo, TX - Western New Mexico University's Women's Tennis had a tough outing Thursday and Friday at the South Central Regional ITA, held in San Angelo, Texas.Â
The Mustangs faced some great competition. Julia Tozzi (Limeira, Brazil/) and Emily Wang came away with two wins this weekend.
"This week showed what we need to work on for spring. This group has a lot of talent, we just need to work through some things to ensure better success in the spring," said Head Coach Alex Hunt.
Nicold Gonzalez (Bogota, Colombia) would be the only Mustang to make it to the winners bracket. Just getting beat out on a 3-set loss Gonzalez made the semifinal in singles.Â
Julia Tozzi (Limeira, Brazil/) would also play her last match as a Mustang as she graduates in December. Tozzi has been an instrumental piece to the Mustangs during her time at WNMU. She is looked up to by her teammates and always brought a fierce competitive edge to her game.
The next time the ladies will be competing will be in 2022. The Mustangs will open up their spring season at UTEP on January 23rd, where first serve will start at 12:00pm MT.
