DuPont, Wash. – The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team wrapped up their first invitational of the year, playing in the St. Martin's Invitational, hosted at The Home course in Dupont, WA. Five Mustangs would finish in the top-20, helping place WNMU in 4th.

The Mustangs moved up two spots from yesterday going 323-315-638. Western Washington just edged out Simon Fraser by a stroke. Western Washington shot 303-313-616. Simon Fraser finished the invitational with 310-307-317. The host of the invitational, St. Martin's finished in third, four strokes behind 314-307-621.

Shandin Harper was the leader for the Mustangs yesterday and continued to do so today. She would finish the invitational with a pair of 78's and total of 156 placing her T11th.

Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) moved up four spots (15th), going 81-79-160. Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS), Valerie Enriquez, and Amanda Portillo (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) all finished T16th. Powell carded 84-77-161, Enriquez shot 83-78-161, and Portillo was 80-81-161. 

Mia Trousdale (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) wasn't too far behind, finishing in the top-25. She would card 79-85-164 in the invitational.  

The SMU Invitational was very competitive. In first, Sarah Lawrence of Bellevue College (WA) finished (-3) carding 67-74-141, Megan Billeter of Western Washington finished in second, going (-2) with 68-74-142, and two were tied in third at (+7).

The Mustangs will host the RJGA Shootout at Golf Club of Estrella starting September 27th, in Goodyear, AZ.
