SILVER CITY, NM – Three Mustangs score 10 points each as Mustangs drop game two at the Rip Griffin Center against No. 4 Lubbock Christian 101-61.
"Lubbock Christian is a very good team, who is coached well and do the little things right," said Head Coach Zane Gibson.
Tony Avalos (Las Cruces, NM/Onate HS), Marvis Odia (Houston, TX/George Ranch HS), and Olamide Pedersen (Bronshoj, Denmark /Sunrise Christian Academy) all score 10 points each. This is Avalos's 5th straight game scoring in the double digits. The last two games are the first time Pedersen scored back-to-back games in double digits.
The Mustangs minimized the turnovers, only turning the ball over 11 times, however, LCU capitalized, scoring 21 points on turnovers.
The Mustangs continue to struggle to rebound the ball and convert at the free-throw line. WNMU was out-rebounded 22 to 34 and shot 44% at the line. They are now shooting 63% at the charity stripe this season.
LCU's Parker Hicks led all scores with 22pts, also boarding seven rebounds. Lloyd Daniells shot ball well throughout the game, knocking down 18pts with 6 ast.
