Silver City, N.M. – Western New Mexico University's men's basketball team took on #18 Dallas Baptist University, in the Burg Center Friday night, losing 76-58.

"We got back to our foundation tonight. We are a hard playing team and we battle," Said Head Coach
Zane Gibson. "Jordyn had a great week of practice, work hard, and it showed tonight," said Gibson.

Jordyn Arnette (San Antonio, TX. /San Antonio Cole HS ) got his first start of the season leading all scorers with 16pts. Going into the half, Arnette knocked down 10pts, including two shots beyond the arc.

Cash Williams (Fresno, CA /Central East HS) came off the bench forcing the Patriots to make plays and ultimately got him to the free-throw line. Williams knocked down 8 of 9 at the charity stripe and ended the night with 14 points. The Mustangs were 86.7% (13-15) at the free-throw line tonight, the highest all season.

The ball wouldn't go into the basket for the Mustangs, shooting just 36% from the field and 29% (5-17) from three. In comparison, the Patriots shot 45% and were 42% (11-26) from the arc.

The Mustangs 17 turnovers resulted in DBU capitalizing for 19 points. The Patriots looked to put pressure on WNMU, force mistakes, and steal the basketball. They had seven steals to WNMU's five.

"We have to build off of what we did tonight and come back and play a cleaner game tomorrow with less turnovers and defensive breakdowns," said Gibson.

The Mustangs are back at the Burg Center tomorrow night at 4:00pm MT/5:00pm CT, looking to take a game from Dallas Baptist University.
