Pueblo, CO – The Western New Mexico University Men's Golf team finished the two-day, three round CSU-Pueblo Farmer's Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational in 14th. The Mustangs were (+17) but played with a field of great competition.
Adam Samnegard had a solid invitational, carding a pair of 73's, placing him T41 and (+4). Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keyes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS) trailed a stroke behind Samnegard, finishing (+5) with 72-75-147, and ending T49. Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) was (+6) for the tournament, carding 76-72-148.
Aaron Perales (Deming, NM/Deming HS) and Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary) both finished T62 with a 149 and (+7). Perales shot 75-74 and Niles shot 71-78.Â
Oklahoma Christian's Alejandro Armijo won the invitational, going 68-66-134, good enough for (-8). In second, at (-7) is Darren Edwards of Fort Lewis College, carding 67-68-135. In third, St. Mary's Tanner Lundgren went (-6), carding 67-69-136.
Oklahoma Christian's (-17)Â finished in first. In second, Midwestern State moved up a spot going (-9) and moving up three positions by shooting (-8) is Colorado Mesa.
The Mustangs go to Wichita Falls, TX, playing in the Midwestern State Invitational. The invitational will be played at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
