RESULTS
Riverside, CA - Running University of California Riverside, hosted by the University of California-Riverside, the Western New Mexico University's Cross-Country team broke two school records in both Men's and Women's Cross Country.
The Mustang men's team was lead by
Michael Anzures (Seboyeta, NM/Grants HS), who placed a new 8K school record with a time of 24:50 which ranked him at 37
th place out of 290 (D1 & D2) runners. Anzure's new record beat out the 2006 old record of 24:56.
Close behind was
Cody Hepker (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia HS) in 78
th place with a time of 25:29,
Aaron Perez (El Paso. TX/Eastwood High School) with 25:56 (123
rd).
David Ceballos (El Paso, TX/San Elizario HS) finished the 8K in 26:06, followed by Josh Lara with 26:27. Other runners for the Men's Cross Country team were
Dylan Walker (El Paso. TX/Burges High School),
Ahren Thorson (),
Erick Arambula (San Elizario, TX/San Elizario HS), and
Rene Arambula (San Elizario, TX/San Elizario HS).
The Mustang women's team was led by
Britney Lovato (Rio Rancho, NM/Cleveland High School) who also broke the 6K school record that was previously held by herself. Lovato's old record time for the 6K was 22:34, but her new record is 21:56. The time ranked her as 44
th place out of 262 runners (D1 & D2).
Following behind Lovato was
Itzela Darkenwald (Conroe, TX/Caney Creek High School) with a time of 23:44 (145
th) and
Maggie Orr (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert HS) with a time of 24:20 (182
nd).
Susanna Wollard (Waco, TX/Eldorado High School ) and
Brenda Prieto (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield HS) were also runners for the Women's Cross Country team.
The Mustangs will find themselves at the Lone Star Conference Championship in Lawton, OK, on Saturday, October 23
rd.
