Lubbock, TX- On this cloudy and windy Saturday morning, Mustangs Men's and Women's Cross Country raced at the 2020 D2 Cross Country National Invite, hosted by LSC member, Lubbock Christian University.

The Men raced a 10k against 10 other teams. WNMU would finish 10th. Alabama-Huntsville would go on and finish first (46), followed by Colorado Mesa in 2nd (77), and LSC foe West Texas A&M in 3rd (77).

As for the Women, they ran a 6k, racing against 9 other teams. The Lady Mustangs finished 9th. LSC competitor Dallas Baptist finished in first (51), along with Westminster in 2nd (67), and  finishing in 3rd is NW Missouri (71). 

Head Coach Macario Campos was proud of his teams saying, "It was a great Championship experience to run at this national invitational for both teams. We are very fortunate both the Men's and Women's qualified."

Senior Mustang Michael Anzures ended his season on a high point finishing in the Top-25. Anzures crossed the line with a 33:02.16, good enough for 21st. By placing in Top-25, Anzures earns All-American honors.

Concluding the men, (41) Daniel Beam ran a 33:44.98, (53) David Ceballos 33:59.67, (62) Erick Arambula 34:21.43, (73) Joshua Lara 35:18.66, (80) Cody Hepker 35:43.63, and (89) Ricardo Garcia-Homs 39:55.86.

For the Women, Britney Lovato finished 31st (23:42.15), (44) Jania Clayton 24:18.66, (68) Brenda Prieto 25:23.88, (71) Maggie Orr 25:31.13, and (87) Sophia Rodriguez 26:28.14.

"Both teams sacrificed a lot and committed themselves to this season despite the few races and limitations. They earned this race at this national invite" Campos concluded.

The Mustangs finish their 2020 season on a high note with the fall season full cancellations and uncertainty.
