Prieto Claims Conference Honors

Richardson, Tex. -- Freshman Brenda Prieto (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield HS) received her first conference honor of her career, earning Freshman of the Week by the Lone Star Conference for her performance at the Mesa Classic over the weekend.

The Las Cruces native, led the way for the Mustangs claiming the individual title, while also leading WNMU to a team title. Prieto posted a time of 18:52.6 in the women's 5K of the Mesa Classic.

Preito was one of the four Mustangs who finished in the top-10.

Cross Country will head to Riverside, California for the Highlander Invitational in a couple weeks before returning home for the Lone Star Conference Championship on October 26 at the Golf Course by Scott Park.
