Gutierrez Named to LSC All-Conference Squad

RICHARDSON, Texas – After a season in which she led the Lone Star Conference in scoring, senior Jordan Gutierrez (Albuquerque, NM/Valley ) was named to the honorable mention squad Wednesday.

This past week alone she picked up her fourth 30-point performance of the season when she tied her career-high with 36 points in the win over Texas A&M-Kingsville. She made 12 field goals, four three-pointers, went 8-8 at the foul line and added a double-double with 10 rebounds. Against Angelo State she added 27 more points with 10 field goals and five three-pointers, along with five rebounds. In the game against the Rambelles she scored her 1,000th point in her career and she also finished the regular season leading the conference both in total points and points per game. For the week she averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals while making 41 percent and 39 percent from three-point range. Gutierrez finished the season leading the conference in both total points scored (526) and points per game (19.5). Nationally she was 17th in points per game, 25th in free throws made (129), second in minutes played (1,038) and 56th in field goals made (172). The Lady Mustangs defeated the Javelinas, 75-67 and came close to an upset of nationally-ranked Angelo State.

For the season Gutierrez averaged 19.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, along with 98 assists, three blocks, 48 steals, 172 field goals and 53 three-pointers in starting all 27 games. She tied or led the team in scoring in 18 games and she scored in double-figures in all but two games, going for at least 20 or more in 11 contests.
