Box Score Lawton, OK - The Western New Mexico Mustangs Women's Basketball team continued their 2024-2025 season with a match against the Cameron University Aggies. Western tried their best to the end but would eventually go on to lose 56-90.
The WNMU Mustangs averaged 46.8% (22-47), while the Aggies averaged 53.2% (33-62). Western improved from beyond the arc, averaging 30.8% (4-13), conversely Cameron averaged 43.3% (13-30). In free throws, the Mustangs had a rough day, only averaging 61.5% (8-13), while the Aggies came away with 91.7% (11-12) of their attempts.
Alina Martin led the WNMU Mustangs with 20 points(9-14) and five rebounds. The closest mustang was
Steph Da Silva (Melbourne, AUS/Loreta Mandeville Hall High School), with 9 points.
Naomi Kimble (Animas, NM/Animas High School) and
Natalie Magallanes (Midland, TX/Midland Legacy High School) tied for most rebounds with 7 each.
Cameron University took advantage of Western New Mexico's 33 turnovers, generating 39 points and holding the lead for the entirety of the game. The Mustangs fought back with 12 second-chance points.
