COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Bobbi Pierson (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia HS) earned the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Summit Award for women's golf on Friday. The RMAC Summit Award is presented to the student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals sites for each of the RMAC's championships.
All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. Any tie is broken by the number of credits completed.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and competing at the championship.
Pierson is a sophomore from Albuquerque, N.M. She has played in all 10 of the Mustangs' tournaments this season, recording an 82.70 stroke average. She has one top-10 finish this season, tying for 10th at the FHSU Spring Thaw. This season, Pierson has carded rounds in the 70's three times with a low score of 76 at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate. She has a .605 win-loss percentage. Pierson has a 4.0 grade point average and is majoring in kinesiology. She will be presented with the award after the RMAC Women's Golf Championships.
The Lady Mustangs will head to Avondale, Ariz., to compete in the RMAC Championships this Monday and Tuesday.
