LEESBURG, Va. – Senior
Donald Byrd (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) and junior
Michael Coe (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad), regulars on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams were both selected to the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Preseason RMAC All-Conference squad.
Byrd, a 5-foot-9 wide receiver and punt returner from Long Beach, Calif., collected All-RMAC Second-Team in both receiver and returner in 2013. Byrd had 60 receptions for 692 yards and five touchdowns. In the return game, he had 18 punt returns for 239 yards and a touchdown. His biggest return game came against Fort Lewis when he returned four punts for 115 yards that included a touchdown and a long return of 70 yards. In the receiving game, he had four games of over 100 yards with a high of 123 that also came against Fort Lewis when he had 10 receptions and a score.
Coe, a 6-foot-3 offensive lineman from Carlsbad, Calif., was named to the All-RMAC Second-Team as well after playing in every game and helped the offense average 27.2 points per game, 1,144 rushing yards and 2,880 passing yards.
The Mustangs went 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the RMAC a season ago, ending the season on a two-game winning streak with victories against Black Hills State and New Mexico Highlands.
WNMU will open the 2014 slate on Sep. 9 on the road at the University of San Diego at 7 p.m. (MST).
