COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western New Mexico University women's tennis player
Ashley Newell (Las Vegas, NV/Silverado) (Las Vegas, Nev.) was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's tennis Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
The freshman lost just once in singles while collecting four wins over the past few weeks of matches. Playing at the No. 3 position, she won all of her matches in straight sets. In doubles, she teamed with
Doris Berberic (Lower Hutt, New Zealand/Hutt Valley High School) to win against New Mexico Military and Grossmont. She is now 8-4 this season playing at the No. 3 position in singles.
WNMU will be off the next few weeks before returning to action on Friday, March 30 at home against RMAC opponent CSU-Pueblo beginning at 1 p.m.
