COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A pair of freshmen Western New Mexico University football teammates collected Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors with quarterback
Mitch Glasmann (Temecula, CA/Chaparral) being named the Offensive Player of the Week and kicker
Josh McIntire (El Cajon, CA/West Hills) collecting Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday.
Glasmann threw for another 400-plus game against the Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. His 430 passing yards against the Orediggers is his season-high, while he also tossed another four touchdowns, which is the third time this season he has accomplished this feat. He was on-point throughout the game, completing over 80 percent of his passes connecting on 29-of-36. He had a long of 62 to
Donald Byrd (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) for a touchdown, which is also his longest pass of the season. The offensive line kept Glasmann upright all day allowing no sacks, as they have allowed one all season.
McIntire did double-duty Saturday handling both the punting and kicking chores. He connected on six-of-seven extra points, with the one that he missed was blocked. In terms of field goals, he was a perfect 2-of-2, hitting on 41-and 43-yard attempts. On his 10 kickoffs, four were touchbacks, as he averaged 64.2 yards per kick. When it came to punting, he punted five times for 195 yards (39 average), with a long of 49 and two inside the 20.
WNMU returns home this Saturday when they will host Colorado Mesa University for Homecoming beginning at 1:30 p.m.
