High School (Senior): Caught 14 passes for 290 yards. 2011 Moore League Champions. WNMU (2011): Played in all 11 games as a true freshman, was third on the team in receptions with 32, as well as yards with 405. He had a long reception of 45 yards and found the end zone twice.

WNMU (2012): Helped the Mustangs in all three offensive categories, as he was second on the team in receiving pulling in 65 passes for 847 yards and seven touchdowns, completed 4-of-5 passes for 103 yards and also ran the ball 10 times for 131 yards with a touchdown. He added one kick return for 40 yards. He was named to the All-RMAC Third-Team Offense.

WNMU (2013): Collected All-RMAC Second-Team in both receiver and returner. Byrd had 60 receptions for 692 yards and five touchdowns. In the return game, he had 18 punt returns for 239 yards and a touchdown. His biggest return game came against Fort Lewis when he returned four punts for 115 yards that included a touchdown and a long return of 70 yards. In the receiving game, he had four games of over 100 yards with a high of 123 that also came against Fort Lewis when he had 10 receptions and a score.

WNMU (2014): Named to three Preseason Teams including Beyond Sports Network, Collegiate Development Football League and RMAC.
