Steven Maxwell (Glasgow, Scotland, Bearsden Academy) finished third after shooting 1-under par (72-71-72 – 215) at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona. The Mustangs placed sixth (292-300-301 – 893) – the same spot they held after day one.
The host, Grand Canyon University, took the no. 1 spot (296-287-288 – 871). They fired four scores in the low 70s in the third round to overtake Chico State (291-291-297 – 879). Conference foe the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs finished one spot ahead of the Mustangs (296-298-295 – 889).

Patrick Beyhan (Albuquerque, NM, La Cueva High School) shot 75 in the third round to card 223 (71-77-75) and place 23rd.
Ben Nelson (Puyallup, WA, Puyallup High School, Olympic College) followed at 225 (72-81-72) to tie for 30th.
Michael Lopez (Phoenix, AZ/North High School) (Phoenix, AZ, North High School, Phoenix College) and
David Metz (Tucson, AZ, Canyon del Oro High School) posted 82s the last day to bring up the rear and finished tied for 57th and 78th respectively.
