Six Football Players Earn All-RMAC Academic Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Six Western New Mexico University football players received All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Teams on Wednesday.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade points average and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. The First-Team was voted on by the league's sports information directors.

Seniors Michael Coe (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad), Henele Nai (Salinas, CA/Salinas), Dylan Contreras (Litchfield Park, AZ/Peoria) and juniors Cole Coffeen (Springerville, AZ/Round Valley), Daniel Cones (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) and Gordy Longville (Tucson, AZ/Ironwood Ridge) landed on the honor roll list.

Coffeen and Cones are on the list once again after earning the honor last year. For Coffeen this marks the third straight year.

Coe, from Carlsbad, Calif., holds a 3.35 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice. He has been out this season due to injury. Nai, from Salinas, Calif., holds a 3.43 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice. He has played in a few games this season along the offensive and defensive line. Contreras, from Litchfield Park, Ariz., holds a 3.34 GPA and is majoring in psychology. He has played in five games this season at linebacker posting three tackles and a pair of quarterback hurries. Coffeen, from Springerville, Ariz., holds a 3.59 GPA and is majoring in kinesiology. He has played in five games this season catching four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. He posted a career-high in both receptions and yards this past weekend against Colorado Mesa pulling in three passes for 52 yards, with a long reception of 21. Cones, from Albuquerque, N.M., holds a 3.34 GPA and is majoring in zoology. He has seen action in a few games this season on special teams as he has two tackles. Longville, from Tucson, Ariz., holds a 3.39 GPA and is majoring in kinesiology. He has seen action in all seven games so far this season, starting at either tight end and in the past several games at fullback. He has caught a pass for six yards and at fullback has helped the offense rush for 819 yards and nine touchdowns.

WNMU returns home this Saturday against Western State Colorado University with kickoff set for noon.
