SILVER CITY, N.M. — Western NM lost a 3-0 match to Adams St. on Tuesday, falling 24-26, 18-25, 19-25 at Drag's Court. Western NM cut an eight-point deficit to two in the opening set, moving from 13-21 to 21-23, but the push was not enough to avoid the sweep.

Western NM made a late push in the first set, moving from a 21-13 deficit to a 24-24 tie before Adams St. scored the final two points for a 26-24 win. Jayla McDuffie served during four straight Western NM points from 21-14 to 21-18, with Brynlee Barris recording two kills in that stretch. Daphne Posthumus (Lelystad, Netherlands/CCNV Harderwijk (Netherlands)) added a kill to make it 24-23 before Western NM tied the set on the next point.

Western NM answered an 0-4 start with six straight points, getting kills from McKenna Alvarez-Mittelsted (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch HS) and Jade Rampton (Nelson, New Zealand/Shanghai American School) plus a Barris block during Alvarez-Mittelsted's service turn to move ahead 6-4. After Adams St. went back in front and built a 14-10 edge, Western NM came back to tie the set at 14-14 on a Mikelle McAfee (Casa Grande, AZ/Casa Grande Union High School.) service ace. Adams St. finished the set from there, taking it 25-18.

Western NM kept answering through Posthumus and Jayden Hughes (High Rolls, NM/Cloudcroft High School), who each delivered multiple kills as the Mustangs tried to stay within range in the third set. Adams St. created separation after a 7-7 tie and later held off Western NM's pushes. The set finished 25-19 in favor of Adams St.

Posthumus led Western NM with nine kills and added two solo blocks. McAfee recorded 24 digs and added a service ace. Hughes finished with seven kills on a .385 hitting percentage and posted two solo blocks. Hannah Haggard (Tucson, AZ/Tanque Verde High School) tallied 13 assists and four digs.
