Box Score Azusa, CA - The Mustangs Men's tennis team faced a tough opponent today on their visit to Azusa, California, taking on Azusa Pacific University.
The match started in the afternoon, with the Mustangs challenging the Azusa Pacific Cougars in doubles and singles, and concluded with a fall for the Mustangs, final score 0 – 7.
The match started with the Mustangs splitting into doubles teams to take the court. The first duo on the court to finish was
Mael Houee (Rennes, France/Lycee Saint Martin (France)) and
Jack Semper (Hackney, London, UK/Stoke Newington School), who took the fight to Azusa but ended up short with a 2–6. The second duo to leave the court was
David Guta (Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic C.A. Rosetti (Romania)) and
Benjamin Vriends (Mierlo, Netherlands/Sint Joriscollege), who concluded the match with a fall of 4–5. The last duo to leave the court was
Yannik Rogulski (Madunice, Slovakia/Archbishop's High School of Bishop P. Jantausch) and
Christopher Lund-Kuhl (Vaerloese, Denmark/Kruses Gymnasium), who fought a tough fight, but eventually fell 4–6.
The Mustangs then went on to face Azusa in singles, where the first Mustang to leave the court was Vriends, whose efforts fell short 6-1, 6-1. The second Mustang exiting the court was Semper, who fought to a fall 2-6, 1-6. The third Mustang to leave the court was Houee, who went for both rounds but eventually came short with 2-6, 4-6. Fourth to exit the court was Rogulski, whose court concluded with a 4-6, 4-6.
Djamel-Dine Bey (Paris, France/National Centre for Distance Education (Online)) also ended up coming short with a final score of 4-6, 1-6. The final Mustang to leave the court was Lund-Kuhl, who fought to the finish, taking the match to a tiebreaker, but eventually came short 4-6, 5-7, and 5-10.
This concluded the Mustangs Men's first day at Azusa with a final score of 0-7.
The Mustangs will continue their visit to Azusa, CA, and will be playing off against Hawaii Pacific University tomorrow, the 12
th.
