COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - On Sunday, the Western New Mexico men's tennis concluded day two of the Colorado College Invitational. David Guta (Bucharest, Romania/) found himself playing in the Finals before falling. 

In the semifinals, David Guta (Bucharest, Romania/) had to battle to get into the finals after winning his first game 6-2, but lost his second game 1-6. In the super tiebreaker, he defeated his opponent 10-7. In the Finals, Guta fought hard but it did not favor his way, falling 6-7(4), 1-6.

Benjamin Vriends (Mierlo, Netherlands/) had a dominating win to advance to the Finals, winning 6-3, 6-4. Vriends did not finish his Finals match due to lightning canceling the rest of the invitational.

Mustangs Freshman, Christopher Lund-Kuhl (Vaerloese, Denmark/) won his two matches 6-3, 6-2 after having a tough day to open up the invitational.

Mael Houee (Rennes, France/Tennis Club de Bruz) took his match to a super tiebreaker before falling, going 4-6, 6-4, 7-10. Similarly, Yannik Rogulski (Madunice, Slovakia/) went to a super tiebreaker before falling but went 4-6, 6-3, 7-10. Djamel Dine-Bey ended his invitational going 3-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Bey and Lund-Kuhl had a nice 6-4 win. Houee and Guta did not have a chance to play their doubles match to earn a spot to the finals due to the lightning.

The Mustangs will head to San Antonio, TX, playing in the Kimbell Memorial Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's University. First serve will be Friday, September 12th.
