Odessa, Texas - The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team continued its 2025 Spring Season by traveling to Odessa, Texas. In a match-up against UT Permian Basin, the Mustangs lost 2-5.

In doubles, the first pairing of
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio San Martin de Porres) and
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) lost to R. Singh and B. Runyan, 1-6.
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) and
Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Cet Alcala) took the number two slot for doubles and lost to T. Vrucan and T. Asplund, 3-6. For the final doubles pairing, the Mustangs had to forfeit due to insufficient girls on the team.
For singles, playing No. 1 today was
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval), who lost to B. Runyan, 1-6 and 2-6. Penciled in at No. 2 was
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio San Martin de Porres), before winning against R. Singh, 6-3 and 6-2.
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) played No. 3 for the Mustangs today, as she was not able to win her match against T. Vrucan, 0-6 and the retired.
Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Cet Alcala) was slotted for No. 4 today, taking F. Bergstrom to a three-set match and won, 6-4, 3-6, and 10-6. Due to insufficient girls, the Mustangs had to forfeit matches 5 and 6 to the LCU Lady Chaps.

Doubles: 3, 1, 2
Singles: 6, 5, 3, 1, 2, 4
The Mustangs will travel back home to Silver City, New Mexico to play against Texas A&M - Kingsville. The match is scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. MST.
