Silver City, N.M. – The Mustangs continue their 2025 season squaring off with the Sul Ross State Lobos. In the first game, the Mustangs wasted no time putting 8 runs on the Lobos within the first two innings. Western would go on to finish the game off with a walk-off home run in the sixth inning. Game two saw a lot more action, with the Lobos and Mustangs exchanging blows till the very end. Unfortunately the Mustangs could not acquire the necessary runs by game's end, losing 7-8 and splitting the series.
With the initial win today in game one, the Mustangs have reached their first double-digit-win season since 2016, nearly a decade! There has been great promise and life shown by this year's team. More importantly, the freshman class has been essential to this year's success, with multiple athletes performing on a very high level, giving much hope to the program's future!
Game One: Western New Mexico vs. Sul Ross St. University 12-3
Starting on the mound for the Mustangs,
Labraida Tenorio pitched 5 innings, throwing 77 pitches and facing 25 batters.
Madison Kloepper (Llano, TX/Llano High School) came in for a brief moment, throwing 6 pitchers and facing 2 batters.
Offensively, the Mustangs had a total of 30 at-bats, 2 home-runs, 2 doubles, 15 hits as a team, and zero strikeouts! The Mustangs dominated at the plate, ending the game early in the sixth with a walk-off, 3-run home-run!

Starting on the mound for the Mustangs in game two,
Haiven Schoolcraft (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad High School) pitched three innings. She faced 17 batters and threw 68 pitches.
Madison Kloepper (Llano, TX/Llano High School) would make a short appearance, facing 6 batters and throwing 18 pitches, before
Alixe De Anda (Queen Creek, AZ/Red Mountain High School) would come in to relieve her, throwing 47 pitches and facing 12 batters.
Offensively, the Mustangs had a total of 29 at-bats. The Mustangs may not have taken the game, but they sure didn't play to lose. They had 12 hits as a team, 3 home-runs, 2 doubles, and 2 stolen bases.
