Silver City, New Mexico – The Western New Mexico University Men's Tennis team opened their 2025 Spring Season with a commanding 7-0 win over the Sul Ross State Lobos in their first home match.

In doubles play, the No. 1 pairing of Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and Lorenzo Orellano-Buratti triumphed over G. Leon and D. Winter, 6-1. At No. 2, Romain Malhomme (Marseille, France/CNED) and Alexandre Frigout (/Ozanam/ Saint Jean) defeated D. Rodriguez and S. Rodriguez, 6-0. The No. 3 duo of Birk Arwedahl (Karlskrona, Sweden/AF Chapman) and Quentin Duvinage (Rasheim, France/Lycée Freppel) won by default as Sul Ross did not field a third doubles team.
In singles, Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC), playing No. 1, dominated G. Leon, winning 6-2, 6-0. Romain Malhomme (Marseille, France/CNED), at No. 2, completed a 6-0, 6-0 win over D. Rodriguez. Alexandre Frigout (/Ozanam/ Saint Jean), positioned at No. 3, won his match against S. Rodriguez with a similar 6-0, 6-0 scoreline. At No. 4, Birk Arwedahl (Karlskrona, Sweden/AF Chapman) defeated J. Rangel, 6-0, 6-0. No. 5 Quentin Duvinage (Rasheim, France/Lycée Freppel) rounded out the singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over D. Winter. At No. 6, Titouan Rebois (Boulogne Billancourt, France/Notre Dame de Boulogne) secured the final win by default as Sul Ross did not field a player.

The Mustangs will next travel to Dallas, Texas, for a match against Southern Arkansas University on March 7, 2025, scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
