Mustangs Split to the Dustdevils

Silver City, New Mexico – The Mustangs continue their 2025 season with their second home match of the season at The Yard in Silver City, New Mexico. Going against the Texas A&M International, the Mustangs won in seven innings during the first game 5-0. Their second game against Texas A&M International ended in eight innings with a score of 5-7.

Game One: Western New Mexico vs. Texas A&M International 5-0

Starting on the mound for the Mustangs was Labraida Tenorio (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho High School), who pitched a total of seven innings, facing 27 batters. She earned five strikeouts and threw 89 pitches. Labraida Tenorio (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho High School) would pitch the full game for the Mustangs, earning another win under her belt.

Offensively, the Mustangs had a total of 26 at-bats. They earned five runs with Ana Armijo (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista High School), Lauryn Carbajal (Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside High School), Laryssa Morales (Vail, AZ/Cienega High School), Hannah Martinez (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad High School), and Jadyn Hooten (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial High School) crossing the plate. Lauryn Carbajal (Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside High School) and Laryssa Morales (Vail, AZ/Cienega High School) brought the heat, earning homeruns for the Mustangs. Hannah Martinez (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad High School) shows us how fast she is with an in-the-park park homerun in the 5th. Starting on the mound for the Mustangs in game two, Alixe De Anda (Queen Creek, AZ/Red Mountain High School) pitched 3.2 innings. She faced 18 batters, 59 pitches, and earned two strikeouts for the Mustangs. As the relief pitcher, Madison Kloepper (Llano, TX/Llano High School) made an appearance for 4.1 innings, facing 19 batters with 71 pitches and one strikeout.

Offensively, the Mustangs had a total of 31 at-bats. They earned five runs with Nichole Armijo (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School) crossing the plate two times. Nichole Armijo (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain High School), Ciara Spencer (Gallup, NM/Gallup High School), and Lauryn Carbajal (Tucson, AZ/Sunnyside High School) earned two hits each for the Mustangs. Kaylee Hickman (Cloudcroft, NM/Cloudcroft High School) and Ciara Spencer (Gallup, NM/Gallup High School) both homered out to the deep right center field in the 5th inning.
