Mustangs Go One and One in Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona - The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team continued its 2025 Spring Season with a match-up against Ottawa University Arizona and Arizona Christian University. OUAZ feels the wrath of the Mustangs, losing 4-3, while ACU would win by 2-4. 
 
Match One: Western New Mexico vs. Ottawa University Arizona 4-3

In doubles, the No. 1 spot, Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) and Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) defeated Martina Antich and Antonia Kostoff, 6-4. At No. 2 Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio San Martin de Porres) and Emma Lootens-Stael (Diksmuide, Belgium/French Touch Academy) beat Jelizaveta Govrova and Michelle Pugh, 6-4. No. 3 pairing of Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) and Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) would also win their match 6-1 to OUA's Cassidy Clark and Samantha Quezada. 

As for singles, playing No. 1 today was Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) as she was taken down in two sets by Martina Antich 0-6 and 1-6. Penciled in at No. 2 was Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School), before falling to the racket of Samantha Quezada 3-6 and 1-6. 

Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) played No. 3 for the Mustangs today, as she was able to find her groove, winning 6-4 and 6-4 to Antonia Kostoff. Emma Lootens-Stael (Diksmuide, Belgium/French Touch Academy) was slotted for No. 4 today, taking Michelle Pugh to two sets before losing the match 6-0 and 6-2. No. 5 Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) rounded out today's lineup, going against Jelizaveta Govrova and winning 6-2 and default. In the final spot penciled at No. 6, Manon Baudet (Lyon, France/TC Trevoux) won her match against Nikola Rusinova 6-0 and 6-4.

No. 3 pairing of Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) and Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) would win their match 6-0 to ACU's Gracie Madeya and Ava Zink.

Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) was slotted for No. 4 today, taking Gracie Madeya to an unfinished match. No. 5 Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) rounded out today's lineup, going against Elpoise Bigot and winning, 6-1 and 6-1. In the final spot penciled at No. 6, Manon Baudet (Lyon, France/TC Trevoux) won her match to Ava Zink 6-1 and 6-0.

The Mustangs will stay in Phoenix, Arizona for the match up against Colorado Mesa on February 14, 2025, scheduled for 10 a.m. MT.
