Albuquerque, New Mexico - The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team continued their 2025 Spring Season with a match-up against the University of New Mexico Lobos & Colorado State University Pueblo. The Lobos would get the best of the Mustangs, 7-0. While the Mustangs would battle with the Thunderwolves and win 5-2.
Match One: Western New Mexico vs. University of New Mexico 0-7
In doubles, the No. 1 spot,
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and
Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) were defeated by Sarah O'Connor and Maria Sodre, 0-6. At No. 2
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio San Martin de Porres) and
Emma Lootens-Stael (Diksmuide, Belgium/French Touch Academy) were bested by Maud Vandeputte and Sofia Taborga, 2-6. No. 3 pairing of
Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) and
Manon Baudet (Lyon, France/TC Trevoux) would also drop their match 3-6 to the Lobos Maria Matsoukatidi and Bente Vandeputte.
As for singles, playing No. 1 today was
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) as she was taken down in two sets by Maud Vandeputte 1-6 and 1-6. Penciled in at No. 2 was

Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) played No. 3 for the Mustangs today, as she was unable to find her groove before losing 3-6 and 3-6 to Maria Sodre.
Emma Lootens-Stael (Diksmuide, Belgium/French Touch Academy) was slotted for No. 4 today, taking Maria Matsoukatidi to two sets before losing the match 3-3 and 3-6. No. 5
Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) rounded out today's lineup, going down to Bente Vandeputte 4-6 and 2-6. In the final spot penciled at No. 6,
