Phoenix, Arizona - The Western New Mexico University Men's Tennis team continued their 2025 Spring Season with a match-up against Grand Canyon University Lopes. The Lopes would get the best of the Mustangs, 7-0.
In doubles, the No. 1 spot,
Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) and
Lorenzo Orellano Buratti (Acassuso, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Anibal Mensi) were defeated by Andreas Loizas and Diordan Macababbad, 0-6. At No. 2
Birk Arwedahl (Karlskrona, Sweden/AF Chapman) and Romaine Malhomme were bested by Jonathan Da Silva and Paolo Rosati, 6-0. No. 3 pairing of
Alexandre Frigout (/Ozanam/ Saint Jean) and
Quentin Duvinage (Rasheim, France/Lycée Freppel) would also drop their match 6-4 to the Lopes Matteo Lugari and Finbar McGarvey.
As for singles, playing No. 1 today was
Javier Romero (Tlalnepantla, Mexico/ETAC) as he was taken down in two sets by Matteo Lugari 4-6 and 0-6. Penciled in at No. 2 was
Alexandre Frigout (/Ozanam/ Saint Jean), before falling to the racket of Andreas Loizas 3-6 and 4-6.
Romaine Malhomme played No. 3 for the Mustangs today, as he could not find his groove before losing 0-6 and 2-6 to Paolo Rosati.
Birk Arwedahl (Karlskrona, Sweden/AF Chapman) was slotted for No. 4 today, taking Jonathan Da Silva to three sets before losing the match 6-1, 1-6, 2-6. No. 5
Quentin Duvinage (Rasheim, France/Lycée Freppel) rounded out today's lineup, going down to Finbar McGarvey 1-6 and 4-6. In the final spot penciled at No. 6,
Mael Houee (Rennes, France/Tennis Club de Bruz) lost his match to Diordan Macababbad 3-6 and 2-6.

The Mustangs will travel to the Ottawa University Arizona on February 13, 2025, to play their next game (9 a.m. MT).
