The Bob Grisham Invitational hosted by St. Martin's University concluded with the WNMU Women's Golf Team rebounding after a rocky start to their fall season, finishing in 7th place at +35, just behind some of the top teams in the tournament. Despite the tough competition, Western New Mexico rallied with a strong second-round score of 298, showing resilience after a first-round 313.
Simon Fraser University took the team title with a total score of 585 (+9). However, Western New Mexico's performance made them one of the standout teams, coming close to a Top -5 finish.
Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) was a notable top finisher for the Mustangs, securing 9th place with a total score of 149 (+5). Klemke's steady play, particularly her 73 in the second round, proved crucial as she remained competitive.
Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) had one of the most dramatic improvements between rounds. After carding an 80 in the first round, Harper stormed back with a 71 in the second, allowing her to finish tied for 15th at +7 (151).
Brooklynn Maes (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial HS) displayed consistent play over both rounds, finishing tied for 25th at +10 (154). Maes' scores of 79 and 75 kept her in the middle of the pack, helping to contribute to the team's overall score.
Corynn Speer (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo, HS) played a solid tournament, finishing tied for 34th at +14 (158). Speer's identical rounds of 79 showed remarkable consistency early in the season.
