SAN ANGELO, TX- The Mustang Track Teams finished their final day of competition at the LSC Championships with a bang.

 

While it should come with no surprise based on her outstanding performance in throwing this season, Kiana Ortiz (Tucson, AZ/Palo Verde HS) became the first Mustang to finish with a top 3 spot in the LSC Championships. She went down as the runner-up in Javelin, throwing 39.30m (128'11") to give the team 7 points. 

 

Following her throw, Selma Carrasco (El Paso, TX/Mountain View HS) also earned WNMU points as she sat 5th overall in Javelin with a throw of 36.37m (119'4"). This was a career best for her. George Peru gave the Mustangs 3 points as he took 6th in the Javelin throw.

 

On the track, Jarred Baca earned another 2 points for the men as he came across the line in the 5000m at 15:03.64min to give himself a 7th place finish.

 

Both teams earned a 9th place finish amongst the other schools which is a new team conference place record.
