Leite Finds Success Versus #21 Chaps

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team welcomed the 21st ranked Chaps of Lubbock Christian on Saturday morning at the 
New Mexico State Tennis Center. The Mustangs would be defeated 1-6.

In doubles, No. 1 pairing of Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) and Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela) were unsuccessful against Michelle Trochez and Andrea De Bernardo, 2-6. At No. 2 Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) and Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) were defeated 2-6 by Axelle Jacquemin and Anastasiia Opolska. No. 3 duo of Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh HS) was taken down by Hannah Quick and Mariia Koroleva 2-6.
 
As for singles, No. 1 Leite played some brilliant tennis, as she conquered Trochez 2-6, 6-2, 7(7)-6(2). Penciled in at No. 2 Li, was beaten by the #35 ranked player in the nation, De Bernardo 2-6, 7-5. Earning No. 3 for the Mustangs, Wang took her opponent Jacquemin to three sets before falling 3-6, 6-2, 0-6.
 
In the No. 4 spot for the Mustangs, Arnautu dropped a hard fought match 6-2, 1-6, 3-6 to Opolska. No. 5 Montero went down in a thriller 7(7)-6(2), 5-7, 8-10 tp Maya Adler. At the Mustangs No. 6 Blumberg, was bested by Koroleva 6(3)-7(7), 0-6.

 Doubles: 1, 2, 3
Singles: 6, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1

The Mustangs will be back in action on April 12th at Texas A&M-Kingsville (10:00 AM MT)
