Box Score KINGSVILLE, Texas - The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team traveled across the state of Texas for a Lone Star Conference showdown with the Javelinas of Texas A&M – Kingsville. The Mustangs would lose this one 0-7.
In doubles, No. 1 duo of
Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) and
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela) were bested by the No. 30
th ranked doubles team of Alessa Maier and Milou Ter Morsche 2-6. 6. At No. 2
Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) and
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) dropped a tough battle 3-6 to Annika Andersson Gomez and Ella Hester. No. 3 pairing of
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and
Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh HS) fell in their doubles match as well, 2-6 to Luna Jokanovic and Manuela Turolo.
As for singles, No. 1 Leite was matched up with the 6
th ranked player in the nation, Maier as Leite went down 2-6, 2-6. Li earned the No. 2 spot today, as she was deadlocked in a thriller with the Javelina's Turolo. Li battled it out to the end, taking the only set win for the Mustangs, but fell 6-4, 4-6, 10-12. Playing at No. 3 is Wang, as Jokanovic would get the best of her 1-6, 2-6.
Penciled in at No. 4 today for the Mustangs Arnautu, lost to the racket of Ter Morsche 1-6, 0-6. No. 5 Montero would get things going early before being defeated 3-6, 3-6 by Andersson Gomez. Blumberg rounded out the Mustangs today at No. 6, losing 1-6, 0-6 to Raina Zaffar.

Doubles – 3, 1, 2
Singles – 6, 4, 3, 1, 5, 2
The Mustangs will be back in action on April 13
th at Angelo State (9:00 AM MT).
